VANCOUVER - A study of Vancouver's drug-plagued Downtown Eastside has found that prostitutes there were more likely to seek addiction treatment if other women in the industry showed them the way.

The study found that current and former sex trade workers who do late-night patrols in a special van were often the first or only contact for vulnerable women working the streets.
