Criminal sanctions on prostitution associated to violence against female sex workers

Research published today on bmj.com reports that more than half of female sex workers in Canada suffer a shocking incidence of violence. This could be halted by decriminalizing the sex industry.

The authours point out that gender-based violence has been acknowledged as a global health priority that can lead to ill-health and death. However, abuses against female sex workers are rarely debated.
