Dr. Shannon joins expert panel with UNAIDS/ IAPAC on 'Leaving No One Behind: Access to ARV's for Key Populations' in Paris

In October, GSHI's Director Dr. Kate Shannon travelled to Paris to join a UNAIDS and International Association for Physicians in AIDS Care expert panel titled 'Leaving No One Behind: Access to ARV's for Key Populations'. Also on the panel were Anna Zakowicz, leading positive activist and co-chair of Greater Involvement of People Living with HIV (GNIP), Michel Sidebe, Director of UNAIDS, Dr. Julio Montaner, Director of the BCCfE and special advisor to UNAIDS. The meeting, co-chaired by Dr. Montaner, released new IAPAC guidelines to meet 90-90-90 targets for all, and followed the WHO guidelines released the same week, that call for immediate access to ARV's for all individuals living with HIV, regardless of CD4 count. The meeting also highlighted the need for increased efforts and response to close the gap on HIV cascade of care and access to ARV's for marginalized key populations, including sex workers, trans* individuals, people who use drugs, prisoners, gay and other men who have sex with men, and women living with HIV.
